Three Ruislip members competed in the first "Sywell Classic" 2-day meeting on the 7th and 8th June. Jointly organised by the NSRA and the Northants, Leicestershire and Rutland TSA it incorporated the British 50m Championship on the Saturday and some of the "extra" competitions moved from the NSRA Bisley meeting in August to make room in the schedule for a match against the visiting American team.
Saturday
Competition 1 - British Open 50m Championship - Double English Match.
Sunday
Competition 2 - 1922 Special Match - 20 shots @ 100yds/50m/25m plus time limit.
Competition 3 - 50m Rapid Fire Match - 20 shots Time Limit + 1 min Skirmisher.
Competition 4 - 100yds Sharpshooter Disc Breaking Knockout Pairs Comp.
For the Sunday Events (Comps 2 & 3) Targets from the 1920's era specially commissioned by NSRA will be used. First used at the NSRA Centenary Bisley Meeting in 2022.
Ruislip had some success on the Sunday, with Tim Shipman coming 2nd in competition 2, and 3rd in Competition 3. Clive Garnham managed a couple of points more than Tim in the 50m Rapid match to come 2nd. Unfortunately, Tim had to leave before Competition 4, and the organisers paired Clive up with Chris Hunter (Down Hatherley RC) and the pair won the Sharpshooter competition. It was Chris's first time shooting at clay discs, and he thoroughly enjoyed himself!
