Ruislip Rifle Club provides instruction and facilities to enable members to practice the sport of target shooting in a competitive yet friendly environment. However, since our range has gone to allow for construction of HS2, we are currently unable to provide either. Whilst we are temporarily without a range facility of our own, we are unable to accept new members who require instruction. If you are looking to join a club, there are others within a few miles. After 49 years, our range beside the railway tracks at West Ruislip has been demolished to make way for HS2.

We are all determined that our club will come back and we will make every effort to keep our identity until we have our own range facilities again. Ruislip Rifle Club has been consistently more successful than its size would lead you to expect, producing (and attracting) many international and county-level shooters over many years. Sadly, in our current state, we cannot cater for new shooters, and so we have closed our membership for the time being.

Target Shooting as a Sport
Target Shooting as a sport can be enjoyed by all; young and old, male and female, able- and not-so-able-bodied. We have members from 15 to 85, and everyone can compete together in individual and team competitions. We accept members over the age of 14, but we do take youngsters of 12 providing they are capable of handling the firearms safely. For all juniors, we ask that a responsible adult agrees to accompany them on the range.
Target Shooting helps to develop concentration, self-discipline, perseverance, self-reliance, self-confidence and a sense of responsibility. The Shooting and Mental Skills (SAMS) Research Project is researching a link between the sustained concentration levels needed for target shooting and reduced incidence of mental degradation in later life.
Shooting has been an Olympic sport since the inception of the modern Olympics in 1896.
We are the only club of our kind situated in the Borough of Hillingdon, providing a valuable opportunity for Hillingdon residents to participate in this sport.
Our Purpose
Club Profile
Although a relatively small club, we have enjoyed plenty of success over the 70-odd years we have been in existence, both as a Club in team competitions, and through our members' individual achievements.
Our members regularly form part of the Middlesex County Rifle Team, and we have had members representing England, Scotland and Great Britain on numerous occasions.
In recent years we have achieved some notable successes in the London Mayors' Association annual rifle competition, providing the winning team for the London Borough of Hillingdon for ten of the last twelve years.
However, we do not let success go to our heads and recognise that none of it would be possible without beginners.
Club History
Ruislip Rifle Club was founded as a Home Guard Rifle Club in 1944 and began shooting on various local wartime military ranges. This ended with a spell shooting in the old 4MU depot by West Ruislip station.
Permission to use this range was withdrawn in 1956 and the club eventually received permission to build a range on our current site in 1957.
Clubhouse Facilities
Our clubhouse and range building has now gone to make way for HS2!
But this is what it used to be like...
Apart from the all-important range, the clubhouse boasts a spacious club room in which to wait for your detail and socialise with other members.
There is a separate gun room dedicated to setting up and packing away equipment.
